DUBAI: The government has recently announced changes to the 10-year Golden Residency and it shook the real estate industry in a very exciting way.
What exactly is a UAE Golden Visa?
A Golden Visa is a special type of residency that spans between 5–10-year long validity. This type of visa is granted to people who has exceptional talent and contribution to the UAE in both the arts and the economy.
This The process is quite straightforward with applicants required to submit the necessary documents and be willing to relocate to the UAE as per their business venture. Investors with public investment of not less than AED 10 million can apply for the 10-year visa, whether in the form of an investment fund or a company. This also enables foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without the need of a national sponsor and with 100 per cent ownership of their business on the UAE’s mainland.
On April 18, the UAE government announced new entry visas and residency permits, where different types of residency options were made available to people traveling to the UAE for a visit or for long-term residence.
The first major change is the required investment for a UAE Golden Visa for property investors has been reduced to AED 2 million from 5 million earlier, while extending the duration of the visa to 10 years from five years earlier. So, now if you buy a property in the UAE worth AED 2 million or more, you can get a 10-year residence visa for yourself and family.
Another significant change is that the investor no longer needs to visit the country every six months. This clause holds the potential to become a game-changer, especially for property investors.
As part of the update on the Golden Visa, the announcement provided details on the duration of stay allowed for an individual in the UAE, while he or she completes the Golden Visa application process, as well as the number of family members and domestic workers they may be able to sponsor.
